WhY?

My name is Sasha Lushnikov.

I am a London-based entrepreneur.

Sport is in my DNA. In between studying and building startups, I have been representing National Team Russia from the age of 16 – winning Silver for my country at the 2012 World Cup and Bronze at the 2009 World Championship in Tokyo, Japan.

For almost 2 years, my friend Igor and I have been helping a British charity called Street Child United to organise one of the largest international charity events for street children ever – '2018 Street Child World Cup: The Future Depends on You' (SCWC:TFDOY) – organised together with MegaFon. This May, more than 200 kids from over 20 countries (50% girls & 50% boys) will come to Moscow, Russia to take part in the SCWC:TFDOY hosted at Lokomotiv Moscow FC's 'Sapsan Arena'. During the General Assembly, these young people will write a Manifesto – a vital document that will tell the world what they need to leave the streets behind.

In June 2018, I am taking on the #Challenge14 – walking 591km together with Jez George, former CEO of Cambridge United, and Ben Szreter, CEO of Cambridge United Community Trust. We will walk across the capitals of 14 European countries playing in the FIFA World Cup, arriving in Moscow on the opening day of the FIFA tournament. We will deliver the Manifesto created by the young people at SCWC:TFDOY to governments, organisations, football clubs and communities in every country we walk through, whilst raising vital funds to enable Street Child United to create a global platform for street-connected young people’s voices.

My personal goal is to raise an ambitious £14,000 out of the overall team's target of £140,000 – the largest fundraising campaign done by individuals in the history of Street Child UnitedAll the funds will be used to challenge the negative perceptions & treatment of street children worldwide.

Please scroll down and support me and our #Challenge14 team.

Sincerely,
Sasha

The Street Child World Cup is at the heart of football, providing a level playing field to street children who have for too long been marginalised. I look forward to following the Street Child World Cup in 2018 when each young person, no matter their background, will tell the world: I am Somebody.

I know from personal experience just what power football can have, to inspire and change young people’s lives whatever their background or nationality.

This is what the Street Child World Cup is all about and I give it my full support.
